I’m Alex. I love to tell stories through illustrations of food and maps. Everyone has a story related to a recipe or a tale about a place.

In 2007 a friend suggested I start an Etsy shop from the lettering designs of quotes and proverbs from my old blog Handlettering Cite, later Lettering Guy. The quotes and proverbs I designed were my source of motivation to keep creating. I went on to sell mini posters to domestic and international customers.

At the same time I was illustrating recipes and maps and sharing them on the website They-Draw.com. I dug into my past to tell stories through food and places. Some of my work was included in their printed compendiums.

I was a sign shop manager for an in-house marketing department and a lettering artist for greeting card companies. I love comic books, graphic novels, and Star Trek. My husband and I are raising three fruit trees - apple, pear, and orange - in California.
