Cork is a natural cellular material of biological origin with an interesting and unique combination of properties. It comes from the bark of cork oak trees. Cork is naturally water repellent, heat resistant, antimicrobial and hypo allergenic.
Producing and harvesting cork requires no trees to be cut down. No deforestation or habitat destruction at all. Zero. Once harvested the trees are marked with a date and left to regrow and regenerate over many years. Yes, the cork bark grows back.
Nature has always been giving us generously. I want to be kind and gentle to the Earth, replenishing it as much as we can. For every transaction that we make, Bluejay Barn shop makes a donation to have a tree planted wherever it is needed all over the world.
