The Story of BreckWorks
I have loved art all of my life. While raising my family I studied art at the Cleveland Art Institute and Cleveland State University and sold my artwork in shows. I began doing commercial artwork, custom drawings of houses and portraits, cards and advertisements for businesses. I developed and created exhibits for the Cleveland Children’s Museum and illustrations for books and magazines and taught art to children in elementary school. I was working as a commercial artist when I heard about the profession of art therapy. I thought how wonderful to use my skills as an artist to help people improve their lives. I graduated with a masters degree in Art Therapy from Ursuline College, and worked at mental health centers for 20 years before retiring to focus more on my own art. My daughters suggested “Etsy” as a way to sell my work from home and helped me set up BreckWorks. My art work can now be seen on my daughters’ website, www.pixiesdidit.com. BreckWorks is starting small, but will be expanding with new fine art prints and children’s picture books soon.
