Surrounded by Fabric
I have always been attracted to any kind of fabric; I used to hyperventilate on my way to my favorite fabric store. I still have some of the fabrics I bought in the 80's that I had to have, but am nervous about cutting into...sound familiar?
In 2008 I got the courage to leave a job that had become challenging in order to start a business making quilted pillow covers, but I had no business plan, or courage to promote my product. After 6 months I ended up working again, this time with elderly people and their families who were in need of caregivers. While I loved this job, I never let go of the dream of working with fabric for a living.
My neighbor told me about Etsy, and after looking at all the crafts represented, and how it's set up, I knew it was the best way for me to try again. So I made the leap in January of 2012, and I love it! Not only can I spend my days designing and making really cool stuff, I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone by doing promotions and overcoming my Post Office phobia (really real).
Now I work in a 10 by 10 room, with a large dog underfoot, and get to see my dreams "materialize". Life is good!!!
