Plain-English technology guides that turn "I could never do that" into "I just did."
Hi, I'm Ian. I write GoodGuides from my home in Denver, Colorado — and it all started with one person I love.
An older family member of mine wanted to do simple things on their phone and computer: share photos with the grandkids, send an email without fear, look up directions, avoid the scams that seem to be everywhere now. But every tutorial we found assumed you already knew the words, already knew where the buttons were, and moved way too fast. It left them feeling like technology just "wasn't for them."
I didn't believe that for a second. So I started writing things down — one task, one page, one step at a time, in plain English, with nothing skipped. The stack of notes turned into guides. The guides worked. The nervousness turned into "oh, that's easy." And that's the whole idea behind GoodGuides.
WHAT MAKES THESE DIFFERENT
• True beginner friendly. No prior experience, no special terms, no "you should already know this."
• One clear step at a time. Follow along with the app open — do a step, see what changed, then move on.
• Plain English. If a word needs explaining, it gets explained.
• At your own pace. These are references, not tests. Come back as often as you need.
• Made to stay useful. Apps change; the guides teach you the wording and purpose of each step, not just where a button sits today.
WHAT I MAKE
Step-by-step guides for the tools people actually use every day:
• Google — Gmail, Photos, Maps, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive, and account security
• AI made simple — ChatGPT and Claude, on desktop and mobile
• Core skills — iPhone, everyday internet, and staying safe online
• Quick how-to guides — short answers to single questions ("How do I scan a QR code?" "How do I spot a suspicious text?")
Every guide is a digital PDF. The moment you buy, it's yours to download instantly and keep — read it on your phone, tablet, or computer, or print it and keep it by the desk.
A QUICK, HONEST NOTE
GoodGuides is an independent educational publisher. I'm not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Apple — I just write clear, friendly guides to help everyday people use their tools with confidence. And I'll never tell you to type a password or code into an AI chat; safety comes first in everything I write.
Thanks for being here. If you're not sure which guide is right for you, send me a message — I'd genuinely love to help.
