About Us
We are a small jewellery business that design and hand craft our pieces from a workshop in the woods in Heamoor, Cornwall.
Our ethos is to try and be as environmentally friendly as possible, we use recycled precious metals and our fairly traded diamonds and gemstones are fully traced from their mine of origin through their supply chain. Our ethics expand into the workshop where we have been granted Plastic Free Champion status by Surfers Against Sewage for our reduction in single use plastic.
Inspired by our natural surroundings, each piece of Justin’s jewellery shows the contrast between the textures of the land and sea. He does this by combining wood or sand with precious metals to give each design an elemental feel, or by texturing the metal in a way that creates a feeling of organic movement. This culminates in a collection of contemporary jewellery, which changes subtly with wear in much the same way as the sea shapes the coastlines of Cornwall.
We offer the opportunity to personalise or customise the design of each piece of jewellery we make. For our wood inlay jewellery you’re welcome to send us your own wood to use, but if not then a lot of our wood comes from old boats, tree surgeons, Cornish orchards, and even old furniture. Each piece of wood we use has its own history, grain and quality, and because of this every piece we make is as unique as the person wearing it.
Our sandcast collection has grown since Justin first developed the technique over a decade ago; molten metal is poured directly into a mould filled with sand, giving the resulting piece an unusual and organic texture. We usually like to use Cornish beach sand from Sennen or Carbis Bay in St Ives, but on request we are happy to use your own sand too, creating a unique texture to the finished piece as well as a lovely individuality and personal touch. Because we use a new mould every time we cast a ring in this way, every sand cast piece is unique, much in the same way all the wood we inlay into our work shows a different area of the wood’s grain so that no two are the same.
Every piece of jewellery we make is hallmarked and stamped with Justin’s makers mark, so you can be sure of the content, purity and quality of the metals involved.
