Hello and welcome to my shop. If you are new to the delights of blackwork embroidery there are some relatively simple charts that come with instructions to help get you started. There are some larger charts with lots of different fill patterns to amuse you once you have got the hang of it. Accidental meeting in haberdashery department develops into lifelong love.

Many moons ago, while in the haberdashery department of Liberty, London, a small blackwork embroidery kit caught my eye. I purchased it and took my treasure home. I never stitched it but often gazed at it, finding it beautiful and beguiling. I dabbled over years, initially making pieces by drawing in pencil on the reverse of my fabric and winging the fills, this is how I still work on personal projects sometimes even now. Eventually, after realising I am not alone in my love for blackwork, I worked to chart up some designs in an organised fashion and so The Steady Thread has come to be.
