Dispositivos OffGrid empezó con una llamada telefónica a altas horas de la noche. Un amigo me habló de Meshtastic, y al final de la llamada ya había pedido dos nodos. Me enganché, no solo por la tecnología, sino por la comunidad. La gente se conectaba semanalmente, veía crecer la malla y exploraba las posibilidades de la comunicación fuera de la red. Estaba totalmente comprometido.

La idea de la carcasa surgió de algo simple: olvidaba mi nodo en casa cuando sacaba a pasear a mi perro. Pero nunca olvidaba mi teléfono, y mi billetera MagSafe siempre estaba en él. Esa fue la chispa. ¿Por qué no tener un nodo que siempre esté contigo, conectado directamente a tu teléfono?

Empecé a diseñar el primer prototipo el Día de Acción de Gracias. Lo que siguió fueron meses de iteración: noches largas, impresiones fallidas a las 4 de la mañana y una búsqueda obsesiva de los imanes adecuados. Los imanes compatibles con MagSafe no se pueden comprar fácilmente en Amazon. Trabajamos con varios proveedores y probamos innumerables combinaciones hasta que encontré unos comparables, y en muchos casos más fuertes, que los accesorios MagSafe oficiales. Fue totalmente intencional.

Cada carcasa está diseñada, impresa y probada por mí. Incluyo una nota manuscrita en cada paquete, porque si compras algo que construí desde cero, merece un agradecimiento personal.

OffGrid Devices started with a late-night phone call. A friend told me about Meshtastic, and by the end of that call I'd already ordered two nodes. I was hooked — not just on the tech, but on the community. People checking in weekly, watching the mesh grow, exploring what off-grid communication could be. I was all in.

The idea for the enclosure came from something simple: I kept forgetting my node at home when I'd take my dog out for a walk. But I never forgot my phone — and my MagSafe wallet was always on it. That was the spark. Why not have a node that's always with you, snapped right to your phone?

I started designing the first prototype on Thanksgiving. What followed was months of iteration — late nights, failed prints at 4am, and an obsessive search for the right magnets. MagSafe-compatible magnets aren't something you can just order off Amazon. I worked through multiple suppliers, tested countless combinations, until I found ones that are comparable — and in many cases stronger — than official MagSafe accessories. That's completely intentional.

Every enclosure is designed, printed, and tested by me. I include a handwritten note in every package because if you're buying something I built from scratch, that deserves a personal thank you.
