Named after my mom's beloved cooking ingredient, Rhubarb began in San Francisco when an admiration of all things vintage and a love for creating jewelry inspired me (with the help of my husband) to start my own business. As an avid jewelry collector, my items reflect a multitude of influences ranging from delicate contemporary to art deco design...with a hint of my own relaxed bohemian style. I scout flea markets, estate sales, and antique shops for the vintage lockets I procure and enjoy working with gold filled or sterling silver metals (with a mix of alloys as well) for my handmade pieces. The beads I use are a collection from shops around the world, reworking old pieces and materials into my designs when I can. Every item at Rhubarb is handmade or curated by me.
I am also obsessed with decorating and my home includes a casual blend of refinished furniture, handmade art, and vintage artifacts...I hope to eventually expand Rhubarb to include such treasures. Right now, I am working with my sister Angela Black of "Chromatic Black Design" to line up our local shows and events. She is also my personal graphic designer to whom I owe credit for my lovely business cards, tags and banners! My other sister, Heather, acts as my style advisor, boutique scouter, and supplies purchaser on the West Coast where she resides. I have the luxury of visiting her on my semiannual buying trips to L.A. She is also the inspiration behind the name Rhubarb.
Rhubarb jewelry can be found on etsy and in numerous boutiques across the country. I work out of my cozy home studio in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, where I live with my husband and our two daughters.
