IMPORTANT! Exposure to water, sweat and especially salt water combined with the elements will cause tarnishing and fading of color. Lotions (suntan lotion and other lotions) will cause dirt to adhere to the beads and perfume will cause fading and tarnishing. It is important to make sure to keep your jewelry away from chemicals and keep it dry. The gold coating also naturally wears off with time. Keep in mind - the beads are not pure gold, but metal/alloy and plastic with golden color coating! So, natural wear off of the gold color layer of the beads is UNAVOIDABLE.
Symbolic Meaning | Myth | Folklore
The evil eye (Turkish: Nazar, Greek: μάτι mati, "eye"; Hebrew: עַיִן הָרָע; Arabic: عين ayn; Persian: چشم cheshm) refers to a “look” or “stare” that was believed to bring bad luck for the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. It is usually given to a person, when one is unaware. Belief in the evil eye is present in all Mediterranean countries and dates back to Greek Classical antiquity, to at least the 6th century B.C. Talismans or amulets created to protect against the evil eye are also frequently called "evil eyes." These talismans or amulets are designed in the shape of an eye. They are believed to "repel" the effect of the evil eye.
Although it might be useful to wear amulets and talismans to protect one from "evil look," it is important to remember about protecting oneself on your own as well. You can do this by raising conscious awareness of what is happening with you and around you. Equipped with the amulet/talisman and your conscious awareness you will be able to significantly minimize instances and possibilities of the potential effects of evil eyes.
