VINTAGE SIZING TIPS & GUIDELINES

Vintage clothing sizes can differ greatly from today’s standardised sizes - garments usually come up smaller, but don't let that put you off. To help ensure your vintage purchases fit as if they were made for you follow my tips below:

Garment Measurements: These are the actual measurement of the garment.

✦ Length - Measured from collar or top of shoulder to the hem of the garment
✦ Sleeve Length - Measured from shoulder to cuff
✦ Shoulder - Measurement taken from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Measurements are taken with the garment laid flat. Why not find a similar item in your wardrobe and measure it as per the above and compare it to the item description?

VINTAGE BUYING CONDITIONS

By the very nature of vintage, some of my items can be quite old therefore the condition of such items can vary greatly. I try to include fair and accurate descriptions of all my items. As a general guide I use the following classifications:

Mint: Never worn or used. No flaws or wear.

Excellent: Previously worn, no signs of wear, no obvious flaws.

Very Good: Previously worn, little sign of wear, minor flaws, repairs may be needed but not necessary.

Good: Shows some signs of wear, some flaws, repairs may be required to restore item to original condition.

Fair: Flaws are visible and noted. Repairs will be required. Item ideal for study or redesign.
