'Excalibur' Handmade Original Lino Print
Black Oil-Based Ink on A4 Paper
This print is inspired by the magical sword that granted sovereignty to King Arthur, the legendary British leader. When Arthur pulled the sword from the stone, he proved himself to be the rightful king. Steeped in rich folklore, Excalibur is one of the most iconic symbols in British legend. In my design, the sword sits in the rock against the backdrop of Llyn Ogwen - one of the lakes where Excalibur was said to be returned to the Lady of the Lake. The focus of the piece is the cyclical nature of the sword. It is taken up for its power and cast away again after King Arthur's final battle. The belief is that the sword waits for another opportunity where its magic can be utilised again.
To create this piece I hand-carved my own design into a lino block. I print with black, oil-based ink onto 160 gsm A4 paper using my homemade press that has googly eyes! To finish my prints off, I proudly stamp on the Glyph Art logo and sign on the reverse side. I then package the piece up safely and send it on its way to you!
Prints are available framed or unframed. The frames are black with glass, they are able to be stood up or hung on a wall. The frames measure 32.5 cm (12 and 7/8 inches) in height, 23.7cm (9 and 3/8 inches) in width and 3.4cm (1 and 3/8 inches) in depth.
