This Pre-Daytona is an earlier production run, as the overlapping sub dials were a hangover from the 6034 and eventually Rolex stopped designing watches with overlapping sub dials.
The pre-Daytona Rolex comprised of the 6034, 6234, and 6238, and were the inspiration for the famous Daytona design that Paul Newman brought to ubiquity. Experts estimate that only 2,300 of the 6234 were ever produced from their production run in 1955-1961. Pre-Daytonas were handmade to an extent and thus have slight variations, like subdial size or anti-magnetic position.
