My paternal grandfather was a tailor. I don't remember him, he died when I was 2. My mother never sewed. When I entered 7th grade, in Home Economics, I had sewing and cooking. The first day of class the teacher gathered us around and told us that we were going to learn to sew some clothes. She explained how we would use a pattern, cut it out, and sew it. After she told us about the whole process she asked if we had any questions. My hand shot up, and I said that it sounded fine, but I didn't really think I liked the idea of using a pattern. This very wise teacher thought for a minute and then suggested that I try her way first, and then if I didn't like it, I could do it my way (whatever that might have been, seeing as I had never sewn before). Then, we learned to use the sewing machines. After school I ran home and asked my mom, did she know that there was a machine that did the sewing FOR you (until then I had only seen her stitch the occasional thing by hand). Of course she knew that.
When she took me to a local fabric store to buy the supplies for my project, I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. Until then I thought the only fabric one could have was and inch or 2 from hemming a skirt. But at this store, there were yards and yards of fabric.
So started my lifelong passion for sewing. I am mostly self taught, and have made many many things, clothes, home dec, bags, dog coats, etc. I started making kids clothes a few years ago when my grand daughter Sydney was born, and I'm in love all over again. Kids clothing allows me to combine my love of color and patterns in garments, always new and always entertaining.
I hope you enjoy my clothes, I sure love making them.
I love to make custom orders. If you see a pattern in my shop, but want a different item out of it, contact me and if at all possible I will make what you want. If there is a particular theme you are interested in that I don't have in the shop, let me know, I will try and find it for you, so you can have exactly what you want. Let's have fun with this together!
