It is very beautiful and high quality Om Asta Mandala Thangka handpainted in Nepal.

The symbol OM is at the center of the thanka which is surrounded by eight auspicious signs/symbols called astamangala.

The symbols are yidam and teaching tools. Not only do these attributes (or energetic signatures) point to qualities of enlightened mindstream, but they are the investiture that ornaments these enlightened "qualities".

1. Endless knot
2. Lotus flower
3. Dhvaja (Victory Banner)
4. Dharmachakra (fly-whisk in Nepali Buddhism)
5. Bumpa (Vase)
6. Golden Fish
7. Parasol
8. Conch

In Buddhism, these eight symbols of good fortune represent the offerings made by the gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediately after he gained enlightenment.

These paintings are incredible. Intricate detail, highest quality fabrics and paint, and who knows how many hours of labor went into this piece. The quality is remarkable. These have been done the same way for hundreds of years.
