All carbon based steel will rust if not properly cared for. Handmade knives should never be placed in a dishwasher. Hand clean your knife after each use. Never lay carbon steel knives on a damp surface for long periods. Wipe knife blades clean after use. Keeping the blade dry is the best practice overall. Food grade mineral oils work best if you want to oil the blade. All vegetable and nut oils will get sticky and or rancid over time. Try to avoid these types of oils if you are storing your knife for extended periods. Tung oil or boiled linseed oil can be used on woodens handles and cases as well as wood wax. Always store your hand made knives in a case if possible. Storing any knife in together with other knives can dull/damage them.

Are your knives indestructable?

No, but they are meant to be used daily. Every knife has its purpose. Do not expect a thin knife with a thin point to not bend if you jam it into hard wood and twist it! Thick knives with a hearty point can take more abuse. Knives have a purpose. Each one will function within its limits. Knives are meant to cut. Some are thicker than others. Some are meant for shaving, others for slicing, some for chopping. Again, each one has its limits and its own purpose. Do not expect to abuse a knife and them complain it did not stand up to your tests. Remember, each knife for its own purpose! Just use common sense.

The handle easily indexes in hand and feels solid. This will not roll in your hand which gives good control over the blade. Tapered from back to front for solid control.
