"I'm restoring a vintage post WWII set of 3 scatter/lapel pins. They depict painter's pallets with brushes. My dad was a commercial artist. He gave them to my mom in the 50's & I inherited them. The two larger ones had celluloid plastic pallets & the smallest had a mother of pearl pallet. Their bases are pot metal. The celluloid degraded & warped. The mother of pearl is undamaged so it was a no brainer to use this material. I'm so glad I found these flat ovals! They work perfectly & their bright iridescence matches the small pin! When I put the colorful enamel paint dabs on the pallets, they should cover the holes at each end. The shell is too brittle to cut so I will paint the "thumb notch" on the pallets."
