Frequently asked questions

How big are the seedlings when shipped?

These are young, seed-grown starter plants. Typical height depends on the species; check the listing description and seedling photographs for a size reference. Size, shape, and foliage naturally vary. Mature plant and flower photographs show future growth, rather than the size shipped.

Do the plants arrive in one pot?

Yes. Each listing offers two or three live plants growing together in one nursery pot. The exact number of plants and pot size are stated in the listing description. The Bird of Paradise Collection contains one Pride of Barbados, one Yellow/Desert Bird of Paradise, and one Mexican Bird of Paradise together in one pot, each identified with a color-coded tag.

Can I separate the seedlings when planting?

The seedlings can be carefully separated when you are ready to transplant. Disturb their young roots as little as possible and follow the included planting guide. You can also keep compatible plants together where the planting space and growing conditions suit them. Message me through Etsy if you would like guidance for your particular plants.

What should I do when my plants arrive?

Unpack promptly and check the growing medium. If it feels dry, water and allow excess water to drain. Start in bright shade or gentle morning sun, then gradually increase sunlight over the following week or two. Keep the root zone appropriately moist without leaving it saturated. Temporary drooping or leaf loss may occur after shipping. Follow the printed care and planting guidance included with your order.

How does the live-arrival guarantee work?

Plants are guaranteed to arrive alive. If a plant is dead on delivery, message me through Etsy within 24 hours of the carrier’s recorded delivery time. Include clear photos of the complete plants, stems and growing medium, and shipping container and packaging. Temporary wilting, leaf loss, discoloration, and minor cosmetic damage are not covered. The guarantee covers condition at delivery, not later decline from growing conditions or handling. I review the photos and delivery information to determine coverage; any approved resolution is handled through Etsy. Read the full terms in the listing.

Why does the shop sometimes pause during hot weather?

I may temporarily pause the shop when extreme heat makes shipping live plants too risky. Protecting the seedlings during transit comes first. The shop was paused in August and September 2026 because it was too hot to ship. Availability may change with weather conditions. If you have questions about availability, please message me through Etsy.
