Turn Digital into Decor
Several years ago, I acquired a vinyl cutter and started having fun creating small custom stickers for my home or for friends. Soon, I was making large, custom sign orders for local businesses, but large custom signs were a LOT of work!
I soon learned there can be a big learning curve to really maximizing the use of my vinyl cutter and time. I spent many hours and late nights of trial and error and tears testing, cutting, and tweaking.
After a couple years of this, I knew I liked the idea of what I could create, but knew I couldn't (and didn't want to) scale to be a full sign shop. I was a full-time working mom and wife. I scaled back and went back to smaller, semi-custom projects.
My first listing on Etsy back in 2011, was for a semi-custom Cozy Coupe name decal. At the time, we had recently gotten a Cozy Coupe car for our daughter and I thought putting her name on the doors would be cute. I made it and my husband thought I should sell it! I still sell this product today and have added several font and color choices for customers to choose from.
Fast forward to 2017 and my family and I moved from Arizona to Colorado Springs, Colorado. We love the mountains and abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities here (Colorado is full now - please enjoy from afar 😁). It wasn't long before we wanted to represent our new state with a sticker on our car. But we didn't want the same ones that everyone had and wanted something more subtle.
My husband created a unique one that uses black and an almost translucent vinyl so that it didn't stand out, but had a cool, matte look to it. We made it and had so many comments on it that I listed it on my other Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/voiceitinvinyl) and it's my top best-seller today! We've expanded this shop to also include other stickers, decals, Colorado gifts, clothing, and more!
Recently, we've discovered that while offering vinyl decor and personalized, unique vinyl stickers is helpful to our customers, there is a large community of DIY home decor enthusiasts who just need a little help or inspiration to bring affordable decor to their home or as a gift to a friend or family member.
