Leafprinter Books - my little shop in the forest
Hello book-lovers! My name is Bonnie Cromwell and I love books too.
My husband and I have been making models and miniatures for many years and we also live in one of those houses where every possible bit of wall is covered in bookshelves. The perfect combination of those interests is to present to you some of our favourite books in miniature.
On my miniature bookshelf you'll find books about nature, travel, history, English literature and adventure stories from the past. I try to make my miniature books as realistic as possible, not just as a book cover that will look good in the dollhouse library. I use authentic bookbinding methods like hand-sewn signatures, leather covers and authentic end papers. Text has to be abridged to keep the mini book from being too thick but as many illustrations as possible from the original public domain books are always included.
The print in a one inch book is not really readable when it is reduced to scale, so the appreciation of the little books has to come from enjoying the illustrations and the magical imaginary world that comes to mind from handling an every-day object that has been reduced to Lilliputian scale. As you can tell, one of my favourite books as a child was "The Borrowers".
I hope you enjoy my tiny books as much as I enjoy making them and are ready to begin or add to your miniature library.
