MERRETT STORY HOUSE PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 15 October 2026

WHO I AM AND HOW TO CONTACT ME
I am Mez Merrett, trading as Merrett Story House. I am responsible for how I use buyer information to run this shop. For privacy questions or requests, contact Merrett Story House through Etsy Messages using the Contact button on the shop page: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MerrettStoryHouse

INFORMATION I USE
When you buy a digital download or contact me, I use the information Etsy makes available to me. This may include your name, Etsy username, contact and billing details, order information and messages you choose to send. Etsy and its payment providers handle payment processing; I do not receive your full payment-card details.

You do not need to provide a child’s personal details to use my printable activities. Please avoid sending information about children or other sensitive personal information in messages unless necessary to resolve your enquiry.

WHY I USE YOUR INFORMATION
I use buyer information to fulfil purchases, help with downloads and printing, answer questions and manage order problems. These uses are necessary to perform our contract or respond to your enquiry before a purchase.

I may also use necessary information to comply with legal obligations, including applicable tax and accounting requirements. Where appropriate, I rely on my legitimate interests in handling disputes, protecting my shop against fraud and keeping records needed to establish or defend legal claims, provided your rights do not override those interests.

STORAGE AND SHARING
I keep buyer details within Etsy only. I do not export buyer records to spreadsheets, external accounting systems or mailing lists. I do not sell buyer information or use order details to add buyers to marketing lists.

I communicate with buyers and handle orders through Etsy. Information is shared with Etsy as needed to provide these services and resolve order issues. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

ETSY’S ROLE
Etsy operates the platform, payment and download services and handles personal information under its own privacy policy: https://www.etsy.com/legal/privacy/

Etsy may process information in countries outside the UK or European Economic Area, as explained in that policy. I do not independently export buyer details to overseas storage services.

HOW LONG INFORMATION IS KEPT
I use buyer information only for as long as needed to fulfil orders, provide support, resolve disputes and meet applicable legal obligations. The period depends on the purpose, any unresolved order issue and the legal record-keeping requirements that apply. I do not keep separate copies outside Etsy. Etsy controls retention of records held on its platform under its own policies, and I cannot promise to delete records that Etsy must retain.

YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on the law that applies and the circumstances, you may have rights to access or correct your information, request deletion, restrict processing, object to uses based on legitimate interests, and receive a portable copy of certain information.

Contact me through Etsy Messages to make a request about my use of your information. Requests about your Etsy account or information controlled by Etsy should be directed to Etsy. Some records may need to be retained for legal reasons.

You may raise a privacy concern with me through Etsy Messages. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or, where applicable, your local data protection authority.

CHANGES
I will update this notice if my shop’s use of buyer information changes.
