Creating art for the glory of God
I have always been a troublemaker as a kid. I would turn my bedroom into an ice rink (by putting baby powder all over our wooden floors), I would swing around the room after watching Tarzan (by hanging bedsheets up on the walls), and I would create my own theme park (by creating rides out of 2 bunk beds, jump ropes, ladders, and pillows).
My imagination ran wild as a kid and it still does to this day.
About 2 years ago, I made the commitment of painting something, anything, every single day. Whether it's 5 minutes or an hour - it didn't matter. My day job was (and is) very computer heavy, and so I wanted to find a hobby that got me out of staring at a screen. And then @shawmuchart on Instagram was born.
On Instagram, I took pictures and posted art works I created each day. Instagram gave me a platform, not only for my art, but also for my thoughts on things I deeply cared about - faith. Because if I were being honest, I disliked talking about my faith. I was far too intimidated. But with art by my side, I began to speak.
And what once were strange and foreign to my lips are now a delight to share. Often I find the inspiration for my art from the Bible or from what I am learning in each season. What I can't share in words, I hope to share in art - hoping that it too could be an encouragement to someone else.
My hope is that you leave this tiny space on the internet a little bit uplifted and encouraged.
