Traditional methods meet modern design.
The Solid State represents the quality of metal and the work-hardening achieved from metalsmith techniques. It’s the durability of handcrafted pieces with timeless geometric form. It’s the meditative state achieved when crafting at the bench, reveling in the sounds of tools hitting metal.
Massachusetts-based (but New York City-bred) designer/maker Anne Forziat Halligan is inspired by Modernist design and Bauhaus principles, creating pieces that are minimalist but with an unexpected edge - asymmetrical elements, contrasting textures and juxtaposing alloys. Facing the challenge of finding mid-range jewelry that hit the right style note and level of quality, Anne created The Solid State to design pieces that are modern, versatile and lasting - a small handmade treat for a special gift or to celebrate oneself.
Slow jewelry you can feel good about wearing all the time; Responsibly-sourced and recycled materials evolve into transitional pieces you’ll wear day into night, every day. From sketchbook to final polish, The Solid State is about transforming raw metal from a plain piece of solid matter into something beautiful and lasting.
