My part in the Slow Fashion Movement...
Serial entrepreneur since I was 7! Seriously, I wanted to fill empty Coke Cans with juices and sell them at my school! ...Thank goodness my mother gently persuaded me not to go ahead with that business...Can you imagine the health and safety problems I could have run into? :)
I am also a big fan of slow fashion and appreciate...no! no! adore the individual craftsmanship that can only be found in handmade. this appreciation has been installed in me by the amazing women in my life. My grandmother, my mother, my step-mother and my mother-in-law. They taught me how to love and appreciate good old fashioned craftmanship. They taught me how to knit and crochet. How to turn some yarn by manipulating it with nothing but needles, or a hook and my hands, into something wonderful...like a garment.
All this has lead me down this path of desiring my own knitwear label.
However living in Australia is tough for someone who likes to create knits. Even winters aren't cold enough to need a pair of chunky, warm mittens or a cozy long scarf...
and because I wasn't going to move to colder countries any time soon, I had to design knitwear that was more fitting for Australia.
Thus No+El was born and with that knitwear like no other.
I play with rope, fabric Yarn and chunky cottons to create accessories and homeware you will love. Pieces so unique, you will want to mend them when they finally break, because you know you won't get another one at your local big chain store.
Each piece is made by my own two hands, from start to finish...my sore fingers can vouch for this....But It's this process of made by a human that makes each piece of knitwear one of a kind, and it is what slow fashion is about.
I also love supporting those beginner knitters and crocheters, with my patterns, and hope that with the help of my Patterns, you too will be able to create your own, unique pieces of slow-fashion and share them with your loved ones.
