This tea pot beaded box was actually an unplanned project! I’ll explain more about that in a moment, but first let’s take a look at what is involved in making this…

You are going to need size 11 Delicas to make this beaded box.

I also included a little sparkly detail on the tea pot lid. So, that requires an 8mm chaton and some size 15 seed beads. But it is also optional. You could leave that out and just make your lid with your Delicas if you wish.

You will also need beading thread. This is a self-supporting beaded box, so you want a thread that will help you to achieve excellent tension. My personal recommendation is Fireline.

This is a project for intermediate to advanced beaders. The techniques aren’t as complicated as you might think. But you do need to be good at following instructions.

You are going to be working in Peyote stitch, using the circular and tubular variations. You should be comfortable making increases and decreases.

I have explained everything in great detail in the 21-page PDF tutorial. And if you do need extra help, I have included links to online classes that give video demonstrations of the techniques.

I started by saying that this was an accidental project. You see, I had just completed another beaded box. And, as I sat looking at it, I suddenly realised it had the shape of a tea pot. It just needed a handle and spout.

Now, this was evidently ‘meant’ because the way in which I had constructed my original beaded box, was perfect for adding a spout with ease.

So, I just ‘had’ to make my tea pot beaded box!

I had an image in my head of delicate, floral-patterned china. So, that fed into this design. I have included a word chart so you can follow the pattern easily.

The finished tea pot is about 3″ high. It’s about 2.5″ across the box space, but of course is a lot wider when you measure from the tip of the handle to the tip of the spout. So, it has pretty good storage space inside.

Now, it won’t hold water (!) but it will hold and pour out little seed beads. So, you can have a lot of fun pouring beads from your tea pot beaded box, if you wish!
