Large 10" Shoulder Bowl, American Stoneware, Vintage Farmhouse Decor

This was a classic mixing bowl from the 1920's - 1930's, most likely made by McCoy Pottery. McCoy was the leading manufacturer of these brown shoulder bowls and did not fully mark the bottom in the 1920's. The color of the clay and the glaze being less shiny does point to it being a much older bowl, than the ones produced in the 1940's and 50's.

The bowl is 10 1/4" wide and 4 5/8" tall. There are faint scratches in the glaze from use but it does not have any cracks. There are a few chips, the largest being in the inside center of the bowl, which is about the size of a dime. Because of the chip in the center of the bowl, I would use this for decorating only and not for food.

All of the vintage and antique items that I sell are several decades old, so there are bound to be imperfections. I will do my best to note any defects, cracks, chips, or wear in my item descriptions. For us collectors, part of the charm and delight of owning vintage items is knowing that they were used and well loved in a different time and place. I’ve tried to take as accurate photographs as possible but, coloration may differ slightly from my photos, as each monitor and screen varies when viewing photographs.
