When Writing is not Enough!
I used to write fiction and non-fiction as an escape from the stressful, pressure-filled career in Information Technology. After I retired, I found I couldn’t just sit around in a rocking chair. I wanted to help fellow writers with the technical issues they faced as the world moved more and more online.
Writers usually want to write and let others deal with all the other details that are required to have a writing career these days. I was happy to help with tips, advice, or even to help out with the technical details. Thus, Author's Tools Designs was born.
Because of my knowledge of tech stuff and my connections in the writing world, I could help writers better than most of the classes that were targeted toward businesses. Yes, writing is a business, but most writers don’t realize that. It has a totally different audience as well as totally different techniques. I used my background in teaching and technical training to help authors deal with the changing publishing world.
I created social media and promotional training geared toward authors. Then I offered graphics for social media and account setups for those who didn’t want to do it themselves. After self-publishing became easier, I helped authors master that platform as well as started self-publishing myself. Social media and publishing consulting became part of the business.
I have always regretted the fact that I couldn’t find the notebooks, graphics, and printable materials that I wanted to use. I, who have never been artistic, found satisfaction in graphic design. I started creating my own and sharing with others. Others have encouraged me to add another branch of my business. Authors' Tools Designs came to life.
I hope that you and I can work together to accomplish our goals and make our lives more joyful!
