Brass and H2O don't get along. Do your best to shield your Himmeli from water or dry any water off ASAP. If you're using it to display an air plant, remove the air plant for soaking and let it dry completely before placing it back inside the himmeli.

The brass has been left unsealed, in its natural beauty, but as a result it may patina and age over time due to natural oxidation of the metal, especially in high-humidity areas. Polish using OOO (extra-fine) grade steel wool, (available from home improvement stores), rubbing the brass very gently back and forth until shiny (and make sure to wear gloves to protect your hands!).

The marble has a polished top surface which inherently tightens the pores in the natural stone reducing the possibility of stains, but we have additionally coated it with a non-toxic sealer to protect against dirt and liquid damage. The sealer is food-safe making the tray perfect for use at your next dinner party, but we do not recommend using it as a cutting board or using any sharp utensils on it which could scratch the marble. Be sure to wipe up any spills from dark liquids (wine, dark sauces) immediately for best results. To wash, do not submerge in water, but rather wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a clean towel.
