Are Mu’s handmade ceramics microwave safe?
We recommend not using handmade ceramics in the microwave. Certain glazes may contain natural minerals or metallic elements that can react when exposed to high heat, potentially causing damage or even creating a fire risk. The safest choice is to avoid microwaving handmade ceramics altogether.
Care instructions
The ceramics are dishwasher safe, but preferably hand wash to preserve the glaze. Do not use in the microwave or oven.
Are Mu's ceramic items dishwasher safe?
Yes in general, most glazed stoneware ceramics are dishwasher safe. However, it’s worth remembering that handmade pottery is more delicate than mass-produced items. The high water pressure inside a dishwasher can sometimes cause pieces to knock against other items, which may lead to chipping or cracking.
For best care, consider handwashing with mild dish soap and a soft sponge—especially if the piece is something you treasure. As a good rule of thumb: if you would be disappointed to see it damaged, it’s safest to wash it by hand.
