The Muheeka Collection
By incorporating elements from the indigenous peoples of Peru, Jen has found a way to take a very modern approach to fashion.
She has travelled extensively through Peru with her family, learning about the different traditions and techniques of the tribes people.
She was also inspired form the crafty elements of her American childhood filled with art projects and watching her Mother sew her childhood clothing and her Father create Navajo jewelry. She uses color palettes that call to mind the mountains of Peru and adds hand-detailing that makes you reminiscent of the day when your Grandmother use to knit, applique, and embroider your clothing.
Our designer, Jen Summers, creates all the designs and patterns for this collection. She then resources her fabric and trims and preps everything for sewing, which includes cutting all the orders.
We have one seamstress who sews everything together for us! This is a very hands-on team. We are small so we work very closely together.
We also have one intern, Kiera Quishenberry, who devotes her free time from school to come and help us in any way she can! She aids us in shipping & packing, some light weight production duties, and helps us set up our booth at our events! She has the most fun helping us at our photo shoots and fashion shows. Her hopes are to get into fashion marketing in the future!
