It was just meant to be
I began to sell my crafts on a large scale in 2011, when we decided to adopt an adorable Chinese boy who was living in our home while he was in the United States for medical treatment. We fell in love with him, and there was no way we were going to send him back to his orphanage. Since this was not something we had planned, we hadn't saved money for this expensive undertaking and I decided to do what I could to help. As we continued the process of adoption, we had the chance to add a daughter to our family and we jumped at it since our Chinese son made 3 boys and no girls in our family. As I became more successful, the need for a name arose and I picked Red Thread Creations, based on an ancient Chinese proverb: Everyone who is destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance, is connected by an invisible red thread. The tread may tangle and stretch, but it will never break. We finalized the adoptions in 2012, and could not imagine our family without these awesome kiddos. I expanded from craft fairs to also opening an Etsy store on Sept 25, 2015.
