I draw faces and figures with flex fountain pen and charcoal, never erasing.
I draw because I want to understand form — what makes it beautiful, what makes it present, what a few marks can hold. The no-erasing matters to me: the mistakes are mine, the hesitations are mine, the line that went wrong and kept going anyway is mine. I don't think that's a problem to solve.
My background is mathematics and software. I enjoy technology and so I learn about image processing, and I scan and postprocess so each piece can live at any scale. But each piece starts as ink or charcoal, made by my mind, my hand, and my eye.
