Highlights
I couldn't resist reupholstering two of my own chairs in this rare Brunschwig and Fils piece!
Sourcing this gem, and in such quantity, was among my fabric dreams come true! This late 1950s era Brunschwig & Fils canvas upholstery fabric titled "French Gladiola" has such vivid color, such perfect period illustrative expression, and there's so much of it — easily enough fabric for a couch, matching chairs, large scale curtains, even to use as a fabric-based wallpaper application.
The operative word here is scale as each run of the French Gladiola arrangement is 33" wide x 35" high. Imagine the maximalist or grandmillennial statement that will be made when this fabric acts a grand central design feature to a room. Even a yard of it stretched over a frame to act as a canvas would itself be a showstopper of a still life art.
Among its other amazing features, this piece was entirely hand printed. Swoon!
Heavy weight, firm hand, low drape (but would have some flow in very long curtains).
COLORS: On an off-white background are illuminating yellow accented by honeycomb yellow, burnt orange, black, deep emerald green, vintage Girl Scout uniform green, hint of mint.
SIZE: 37" inches wide and sold by the yard with up to 16 yards available. PURCHASING: Click "add to cart" and then visit your cart to edit/add more yardage.
CONDITION: Excellent overall — fibers and color are superb. Some discoloration at the selvage edge which might come out with further treatment but otherwise would not likely affect projects as it would be used up in the seam allowance.
