Rusla was a Norwegian pirate that lived many hundred years ago.  

The Pattern: You can download and print this PDF pattern with two descriptions. One version with no photos for printing, and one version with photos that you can look at on your I-pad or computer as you sew the bag. The pattern comes in a separate PDF with cutting instructions and a list of materials and hardware you need. The pattern pieces are color coded according to the fabrics you use.

The Bag: This fun and spacious DIY Crossbody bag is made with 3 different fabrics (you can use fabric, cork, leather or vinyl) with decorative strips. The bag features 3 outside zipper pockets, one at an angle on the front and two at the back. The bottom is 3 inches deep and has boxed corners. The inside lining has a zipper pocket with a decorative panel and a slip pocket with a decor strip up top. This pocket can be divided into two slip pockets. The adjustable shoulder strap is made with two different fabrics. 5 rivets placed on the strap and strap connectors give extra strength to this bag. I have made this bag with cork and vinyl, and since the lining is made with waterproof canvas, this bag doesn't need any extra interfacing to be sturdy. However, there is woven interfacing on the pocket pieces made in cotton.
