Aurora Borealis crystal is magical, don't you think? Mined like other crystal, it is specially treated to reflect all the colors of the Northern Lights. This 1950s brooch captures that grandeur and timeless beauty. Madly faceted stones are both round and emerald cut, radiating from a center stone to form a starburst shape. The colors are astounding: deep blues and greens, bright pinks and purples, and everywhere the glow of gold, not only from the golden setting but from the crystals themselves.

The brooch is three dimensional and is designed to let in maximum light. There are two layers of "rays", neither of which rest upon the body but are instead elevated via loops of golden wire. The uppermost layer sits about 3/4" inch above the clasp. There are 37 stones in all, each looking very much alive. The barrel clasp is in fine working order. The piece is not marked, which is surprising, because the quality is evident.
