Vintage Moroccan brass wall lights, stand-out sconce lamp, mid-century brass, Golden jubilee, celestial patterned light, statement lighting, theatre prop

Brass lamps are not hard to find in the bazaars of the world but these are rarer vintage lamps from the mid-20th century.
The sconce lamps were pierced and hand-beaten in Morocco. Although clearly brass (from the underside), there are signs of other metals, such as copper and lead for soldering. They may also have been lacquered at some point (photo 3). Removing the lacquer should result in a brighter glow of the brass.
1. Pair of cone-shaped lamps whose elegant shape is created from four geometric panels, each at three levels; triangles ending in a pointed base; vertical rectangles making up the main body; and slim trapezoids at the top for a fluted finish. The pierced pattern is taken from the art and architecture of the middle east, but the star/snowflake shapes are very Christmassy too. Each lamp is fitted for an electric bulb for indoor lighting, with a hole for the lead.

2. Pair of stepped lamps, staggered in 3 tiers, widest at the top. The hand-beaten brass is pierced with a swirly pattern. Castellated borders at top and bottom complete this unusual lamp. No fittings for electrics but may be used in many versatile ways . . . eg: attach back to back and stand as vase or candle holder (photo 10).

Light the lamps and watch the pretty shapes dance on the walls. Their beauty can be taken outdoors by hanging on a garden wall and securing a tealight inside with malleable tack. Apart from wowing your garden party/BBQ guests, they will also keep the midges at bay. A wonderful gift for a Golden Anniversary (50th year).
