This is the pattern for a pictorial herringbone quilt. It features four large hearts and 12 smaller ones. It is made exclusively of strips of fabric that are all the same size, sewn together in a herringbone pattern. Most of the strips are of a single fabric, but many are pieced. The strips are sewn together with regular piecing and straight seams -- there are no Y-seams. As a big fan of scrappy quilts, I used about 10 white fabrics to make the background, 25 red prints to make the two red hearts and 25 pink prints to make the two pink hearts. But this quilt doesn't have to be Valentine-y. You could use any colors or even the colors of your favorite sports team along with team-themed novelty fabrics. As all the strips in this quilt start at 2-1/2" wide, this is a great project for jelly roll strips.
The pattern contains detailed diagrams to make the quilt top in sections as well as instructions on how to sew the sections together to into the final quilt top. This pattern is 15 pages -- a color cover, then 14 pages of B&W instructions, diagrams & charts showing fabric placement, a count of all pieces needed and the final layout. The quilt finishes at approximately 78" h x 75" w.
Please know that this is a pattern on how to make this quilt. This is not a kit nor a finished quilt, but a digital file (pdf) of instructions (with diagrams & charts) on how to make a quilt that looks like this one. Of course the look of the quilt will vary given the fabrics you already own or can obtain.
