What is the difference between the Raw finish and the Satin finish?

For many of our products we offer the option of different finishes. If you select the Raw option, the timber is left in its raw state but sanded very smooth to create a beautiful soft finish to the timber. The Satin is the most hardy of the finishes and is the best option for any product that will be exposed to moisture. Each product is firstly coated with a sealer and then several coats of a hardwearing Satin finish are applied. The Satin finish highlights the grain and give the timber a slightly warmer and richer tone.

Custom and personalised orders

Yes we do take custom orders. Please send us a message, or an email, with the details of your custom request. We can customise the dimensions of our existing products, or we can design something new to your request. Please include information regarding dimensions, finish option, quantity and any other design alterations. Please also include your post code so that we can quote your shipping costs as well.

International Shipping

Yes we do ship internationally. Please get in touch with us if you would like a quote for the shipping costs to your country.

General - do not leave spills to sit on surfaces. Avoid contact with heat, liquid, and take care when placing abrasive objects on the timber. Do not place your product in direct sunlight or in close proximity to air conditioning and heating ducts. Raw - use a dry cloth or duster to clean your product. To remove any marks or stains, lightly sand using 240grit sandpaper, moving in the direction of the grain, until the mark or stain is gone from the surface. We recommend not storing your piece in environments exposed to moisture. Satin - for light cleaning use a microfibre cloth with a small amount of warm water. For more stubborn stains you can use mild detergent with warm water. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning products.

Our beautiful Leather Strap Shelves with Curved Edges are hand crafted out of Victorian Ash Timber and genuine high-quality leather. They are available in a 50cm, 70cm or 90cm width. They are also available with different colour leather; brown, natural (which will darken over time) or black. They featured beautifully finished rounded-over edges making them unique and refined.

PRODUCT INFORMATION:

Each shelf also includes beautiful brass screws and cup washers in addition to plaster wall mounts for easy fastening to any plastered wall surface.

There are three different finish options available. The second last photo displays the three finish options available; hardwax oil in rich brown, raw or satin finish. If this shelf will be exposed to moisture, such as in a laundry or bathroom, we recommend the Satin finish. If selecting the raw option, we are able to complete and send your order promptly. If you select a satin finish, we require at least an additional week to ensure the best quality finish can be applied with several layers and dried sufficiently before packaging.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Please note that all our timber is hand selected for each shelf, however as Victorian Ash timber is a natural material it will vary in both colour and grain to the photos above. Features of Victorian Ash include fiddleback markings and visible gum veins. The timber may also range from a pale straw colour to a slight pink tone to a golden hue. As with all natural materials, Victorian Ash is affected by light and overtime the character and colour will change slightly. These natural features are a unique and beautiful characteristic of the timber. Please also keep in mind timber can expand and contract due to varying temperature and environmental conditions in your home. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information regarding the care of your Jemmervale Designs product.

Please note, we use a high quality natural Leather. As it is a natural material, there will be slight differences to the colour and appearance to the leather. If it is exposed to light the natural coloured leather will also darken with age. We recommend storing the leather out of direct sunlight until ready for use to avoid uneven tanning of the leather.
