I want to talk a little about recycled sari ribbon. It's very popular right now, and there is a lot of varieties, and it's a mystery to most of us...including me, at times, and I carry it..lol
First and most importantly....it is RECYCLED... and it isn't perfect. There can be little knots, sometimes it has a loose end, that can easily be sewn or retied. The materials are different widths and textures...or shredded, or lots of threads...nothing is uniform, or even makes sense.
So...what is good about that, you ask?
Well, it's fun, exotic, not very expensive, and it helps the planet. It gives us a peek into another world of colors and textures, and it sparks the imagination.
Most of us shop on Etsy for unique one of a kind things, things we would never find in a big box store.
Recycled sari silk ribbon will always be one of a kind...sometimes frustratingly so...lol. But it's recycled, provides jobs for the women in India and Nepal, it's a fair trade product, there is no child labor.


What is sari silk ribbon?...This yarn is a byproduct of the colourful saris manufactured in India. 
The waste ends from silk sari production are collected and joined together to form a continuous length of bright coloured silk ribbon.This beautiful ribbon can be used for crochet, knitting, felting ( with the help of plenty of wool to help secure it) embroidery, embellishing , jewelry, and adding to any project to give it a unique look....can be very boho. It can be quite stiff when knit...I like it better for mats, purses, and tassels...not so much for clothing.
