In order to clean your garment we recommend airing out your kimono or haori inside out between wearings and spot cleaning as necessary. You can also fill a spray bottle with vodka and spray gently from the inside of the garment in order to kill bacteria and remove odors. Test this on a small area first to ensure that the dyes will hold fast. We've also found that using a steamer on our haori and kimono can help keep them looking fresh. Depending on the age, material, and condition of your garment some pieces may be possible to dry clean, but we have had mixed results with this and do not recommend it. Not all dry cleaners are experienced with vintage and delicate garments, so please use caution if you try this.

This lovely solid pale butter yellow silk obiage is made of a type of silk crepe called chirimen. Chirimen is a specific weave where the threads are twisted as it is being woven, giving it a crinkled texture. It is prized for its beautiful drape and its resistance to wrinkles.
