Highlights

Hand made by indigenous artisans in Bolivia. The material is aguayo fabric, a traditional unique woven fabric of the Andes. A cloth used in indigenous communities in the Andes region on Bolivia and neighboring countries like Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru.

Aguayo is Aymara for a woven blanket to carry things on the back or to cover the back. Aymara & Quechua people use it to carry small children or various other items in it on their backs.

Today, these cloths are machine-made with acrylic & cotton in the same bright colors, as traditional aguayos were made traditionally with wool (alpaca, llama or sheep). They have the same images that tell the stories of the Andea tribes.
