White Mats - Acid-free - 4 Ply - 1/16" Thick

MUST READ BEFORE ORDERING!

HOW TO ORDER:

1. Select mat colour: "cool-white" (bright white) or "warm-white" (off-white) in the dropdown menu. Pick one that complements the overall colour temperature of your print (does not have to be an exact match).

2. Select the total size of matboard you would like me to cut. It is common to go larger than your paper size in order to give you a more adequate border width. Do not just cover up thin white margins with the same size mat. Pro tip: Lay your print out in front of you with measuring tape going across. This will help you visualize how large a size you should order to give you the mat border width you want. Keep in mind, the lip of your frame hides approx. 1/4" of the mat edges.

3. In the personalization box type in the opening (window) size you would like cut in inches. NOT your image size (as it needs to be smaller). What you type in the box is the approx. size I will cut. I do my best to cut as accurately as possible but since I am cutting these by hand expect some slight variance. *This is why you MUST type in an opening .5 or .25" smaller than your image size if you don't want to see the edges of your image showing through the opening. If you do not do this you will see the edges of your photo as it will never fit the opening size exactly. For example if your image is 8" x 10", type in 7.5" x 9.5" or 7.75" x 9.75". Measure this out over top of your image to see for yourself how this only hides 1/8"-1/4" around the edges of your image. If you are still unsure please message me before placing your order.

*Mat openings will automatically be centered and follow the direction of the matboard. If you need the opening cut off-center or facing a different way (vertical mat with a horizontal cut opening, for example), you can message me with your request. I am happy to help!

COMMON MISTAKES:

- Ordering a matboard with too thin of a mat border to only cover the margins around your image. This can look awkward especially if the margins are super thin or uneven.
- Mat border looks thinner than expected due to wrong calculations. This happens often when buyers have a mat border width in mind, but don't multiply by 2 when determining the total mat size. For example, if you are wanting a 2" mat border for an 8 x 10 image, the resulting matboard size is not 10 x 12 - it is 12 x 14. If you are more of a visual person, try masking out a rectangle in front of you with tape or string so you can see how large the matboard looks.
