Vintage 10K HEAVY Gold Locket Pendant Golden & Black Glass 7.2g for Necklace Chain Opens to Cabinet Card Photo Estate Antique from the 1800s

This is a vintage 10k gold locket. This locket looks like a very nice pendant, that can be worn with either side showing. But when you open it up there is a "cabinet card" photo (more about these, below) of a woman. Based on the design, workmanship and photo, I believe this locket is from the late 1800's or early 1900's, but have no way of knowing for sure.

The 10K gold locket is yellow gold, tending towards a rose gold hue. One side of the locket has a beveled dark golden-color glass front, and the other side has a beveled black-topped glass front (over white glass). I've backlit one of the photos so you can see the true colors, but the dark golden color looks darker when the locket is closed. The glass is in great condition with no chips or scratches. And you can wear the locket with either side showing, giving you two different looks. Very versatile!

This 10K gold locket has an elaborate top and bail that adds to the design. The gold setting is scalloped around the glass panels. The photo is also in a gold frame, and the photo can be removed from the locket should you want to exchange this vintage "cabinet card" photo for one of your own. FYI... Cabinet cards are photographs mounted on stiff pieces of cardboard. They were introduced in the 1860s.

The locket is a nice size and measures slightly more than 1-1/8" tall, including the bail (when closed) by 5/8" wide. The gold is 10K and has been thoroughly tested and is guaranteed to be solid 10K gold. This locket weighs a generous 7.2 grams.

PLEASE NOTE: Though there is a patina to the gold, associated with age, any spotting of discoloration you see on the gold or the glass panels are reflections from the background or my camera case (leopard print!). This vintage locket is in excellent condition.
