How do I propogate pothos, monstera, hoya, philodendron?

Water propagation works nicely for these varieties. The node is where the leaf meets the stem some cuttings may have aerial roots at the node and some cuttings may not yet. These plants will root from this location. I recommend changing water at least once a week. Do not submerge the leaves. The roots will trail to the water source. Allow roots to grow 2-5” before moving to soil. Wilting is normal as the roots establish in soil. Hoya will root from numerous locations along the stem. Aerial roots grow from the node as the plant matures. Certain plants will propogate from along the stem such as Hoya and string of things. These plants may do best propagating flat on soil, moss, or perlite so that more tissue area is exposed to the damp elements required for rooting.

How do I root small hoya, string of turtles, succulents, etc?

Placing these clippings directly on top of soil, moss, or perlite will do the trick! Keep lightly misted during the rooting process. If possible, higher humidity is preferred and this can be achieved by putting these cuttings in a grow tent, or even putting a plastic bag on top of your container to increase humidity.

How are the cuttings packed for shipment?

Most pothos, monstera, philodendon, and Hoya will have their stems wrapped with a damp paper towel. Plastic Saran Wrap will be placed on next to ensure that the paper towel is snug against the stems for transport and tape will encircle the little plant packet to keep everything together. Some cuttings of similar sizes may be wrapped together to save materials and space but I will do my best to ID any similar tricky looking ones. Some Hoya and string of things will be packed in a plastic bag with moss for transport. All boxes will be cushioned with cotton fiber and pass the “shake test” upon final packing to ensure that all cuttings are tucked in and secure for their journey to their new home!

How do I propagate leafless nodes?

I have had the best luck propagating nodes with a covered plastic container. I fill the container with either damp moss or perlite and place the nodes on top. I open the container once a week to air it out and to lightly mist the substate. Don’t forget to keep it out of direct light and in a warm location!

What does "blemished" and "damaged" mean in the cutting options?

"Blemished" and "damaged" are discounted plants that are not 100% perfect and are not items that I would send to a buying customer at full price (or would not be happy to receive!). These options may have tears, holes, browning, or cosmetic deformities. However, I will send cuttings with healthy nodes so any damage will just be cosmetic and these options will still be healthy for propagation!

Each individual clipping of a plant cutting is ONE NODE AND ONE LEAF (unless started otherwise). All cuttings will include a stem and a node for propagation. The node is the area where the leaf attaches to the stem (appears as a “bump” for pothos, monstera, and philodendron). Please note that aerial roots may or may not be present at the time of clipping.

One clipping will be included per selection. Nodes may or may not have aerial/root nodes developed at the time of clipping.
