This is a 4x4 inch square coaster featuring the design - Warm Reflection - which is an original watercolour painting by Olga Cuttell.. The coaster has a cork bottom and rounded corners. I painted the original artwork and then I apply a miniaturized print to the coaster using a process called dye-sublimation. The result is a strikingly colourful and remarkably durable coaster made right in my studio in BC Canada. It is resistant to heat, cold, moister and even impact and scratching.
Coasters can be bought as sets of four identical pieces or a single in the mixing and matching of your own set. I certainly don't object to selling a single unmatched coaster, but I always think it's a shame to enjoy it alone.
To Mix & Match your coaster designs, and save money, choose the "Mix & Match (1 of 4)" option and then do it again 3 more times.
The original piece was done using watercolour paint on watercolour paper.
Colour and position may vary slightly from depicted example.
The first print I ever sold was right here on Etsy in 2006. It was a beautifully simple line painting of a hummingbird; acrylic on canvas . It was a difficult decision to finally remove that first success from the collection, but it was a decision made easier by the addition "Warm Reflection". Hummingbirds are, to me, among the most beautiful and delicate of all nature's wonders. These unlikely creatures, drink from flowers, spread flower pollen (essentially combining both feeding and intercourse) and have the worlds hardest working hearts. Though my first effort at capturing such splendor may have slipped into obscurity, there will always be a hummingbird in the Oladesign collection. "Warm Reflection" serves as a reminder to me of how far both my style and career have come.
"Warm Reflection" primarily resonates a deep warm pink, accented by splashes of several bright and contrasting colours. It tends to partner well on a wall with "Memory's Legacy" or either of "Wild Bouquet" and "Blossom Reach".
"Warm Reflection" is ideal for warming up the walls of almost any room, but is most often found brightening kitchens and the bedrooms of little girls who just can't get enough pink into their lives (just like my Alisa).
