A museum piece! An incredible bodice from the 1800s. Originating from London, England.
A stunning color—photos simply don't do it justice!

Constructed using a mix of machine and hand sewing. The fabric is a fine silk taffeta. It features long sleeves, with beaded fringe on one of them.

It has five internal stays (bones). The lining is made of glazed cotton (chintz). It fastens with hooks and handmade thread eyes.

There are two small slips of paper attached, both bearing names: Mrs. Mansfield (secured with stitches) and Mrs. Reeskroft (secured with a pin). Who were they, and what were their lives like?

It is in good condition for an antique item of this age. There are a few splits in the silk, some discoloration (including in the underarm areas), and occasional small holes. The sleeve without fringe requires some restitching. I would not wear it due to the fragile silk, but it is a sturdy piece to be cherished.
