Vintage gold ring, chunky 9ct solid gold with Cairngorm smokey quartz large gemstone

Huge modernist minimalist retro gemstone ring with a very high gemstone mount. The 9k solid gold ring has a large Caringorm quartz gemstone set into a high gold pronged open mount. The gold band is flat and plain. The square Cairngorm stone is cushion cut and a very good quality clear gemstone.

The ring is fully hallmarked for 1970. This type of jewellery was very popular in the 1960s and 1970s but it is unusual to see such a large high mount. It makes a huge statement and cannot fail to get noticed.

• Gemstone: Quartz gemstone measures height 9mm by width 18mm square. Approx. 2.65cts. The stone is cushion cut or some would call it Emerald cut / step cut. It is a beautiful clear stone with a caramel tone to it. It is lighter than smokey quartz as Cairngorm gemstones tend to be lighter and have more of a caramel tone. I can not be sure it is Cairngorm rather than smoky quartz other than the colour of the stone. Stone has been tested on Gemtester machine.
• Condition: In excellent vintage condition with signs of wear in keeping with its age. At some point the stone has been extra secured with glue under the prongs.

• Packaging and Postage: Will be delivered in a new box suitable as a gift and will be sent tracked and signed for with full insurance.

Resizing: It is possible to have your jeweller resize the ring a couple of sizes either way. Please ask if you are unsure as it also depends on the actual ring.
