I trace elements of my aesthetic back to my childhood. At that time, I was already drawn to old and antique objects; and maybe that’s where my interest in jewelry came from, because this art is timeless; it doesn’t decay or go away. It’s a chance to hold on to the past and at the same time reach out to the future. Jewelry has always been closely connected to mankind, that is a defining element in understanding our past history. My creations encapsulates these elements of history with a modern point of view.

My designs express the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. I aim to uncover the beauty of imperfection in each piece by combining textures, oxidizing surfaces, and forging irregular forms. A great part of my Aesthetic is influenced by my Japanese inheritance and the idea of Wabi-sabi: a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection.
