Vintage Classic WEDGWOOD Jasperware blue-white unglazed ceramic made in England Potpourri pot.

An attractive blue Jasperware lidded Potpourri pot. The base has neoclassical sacrifice scenes around the body. This is a dainty and useful item, it would be a wonderful gift or a superb addition to a Wedgwood collection. Could be used as a small rose bowl.
Wedgwood is renowned for Jasperware, this is a wonderful example.

The pot is in great vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. Unused.

This vintage bot can be used as a trinket box, jewellery box, nuts or sweets dish, without a lid.

Stamped: Wedgwood (without R), made in England.
Made in early 1970's (the "R" after Wedgwood on the back stamp was added from 1975 onwards).

Jasperware, or jasper ware, is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. Usually described as stoneware, some authorities have described it as a type of porcelain. It is noted for its matte and unglazed biscuit finish and is produced in a number of different colours, of which the best known is a pale blue that has become known as Wedgwood Blue. Relief decorations (typically in white but also in other colours) are characteristic of Wedgwood jasperware. They are produced in moulds and applied to the ware as sprigs.
