The two linen napkins in this set feature a one-of-a-kind, hand-dyed pattern - while each is from the same dye bath, variations will occur in color range and pattern. Dyes used are environmentally safe coldwater dyes.

Each napkin is 18 to 19 inches square, preshrunk with fringe on all four sides. This particular linen material is a medium weight fabric that is soft and pliable, exhibiting some natural slub variation in the weave. This enhances the variegated coloring in the dyeing process.

Linen is a natural fiber made from the flax plant. It is two to three times stronger than cotton and dries at a much faster rate. Linen benefits include being highly absorbent, breathable, a natural insulator and hypoallergenic - it's also notorious for wrinkling and creasing.

If you like the slightly rumpled look, after washing use a machine tumble on low heat, then remove it from the dryer when still slightly damp and hang to dry or lay flat on a towel. We like to air-dry in the drier with wool balls and remove when slightly damp - this keeps them soft-looking and casual. If you opt for a crisp look, be prepared to iron with a medium-hot heat when slightly damp - once totally dry, it is more difficult to get out creases. You can also place a damp towel over the fabric and iron to steam out of the wrinkles.
